Get Palin’s Debate Look

In a report on a CNN, it was suggested that Gov. Sarah Palin’s suit for the VP debate on October 3rd was designed by Valentino. Now, I don’t know how much it cost, but I can guarantee you it was not cheap. According to some web rumors, it costs anywhere between $2500 and $3500.

So, how can you get Palin’s look without the price tag?

Six Top Colors for Fall: 4-6

There are many colors out and about right now, but there are six that seem to stand out. Today, we will talk about the bottom three.

Number 6: Royal Blue - This color is deep and rich. It’s not a bright blue, but not as dark as navy Royal Blue either. Royal blue is especially attractive in a silky or satin fabric. The sheen and texture add an extra level of chic to the color. Gray is the best neutral to mix with this shade of blue. Pair this with silver instead of gold for a great pop.  This shade is especially attractive on light skin tones.

Number 5: Green – Think primary green. While Greensomewhat bright, this color blends very well into  the mix of hot fall colors. This color goes great with brown as a neutral. When choosing jewelry, go for gold or bronze over silver. I love this shade on most skin tones. However, be careful if your skin has a lot of yellow undertones.

Number 4: Turquoise – This color has always mixed well with brown (and still does), but the Turquoise trend this season is to pair it with black and gray. The turquoise has an added punch when paired with these colors. This color goes great with silver or gold jewelry. Which you choose will depend on whether you have paired it with brown (gold) or black/gray (silver).

Designer Find for Less – Michael Kors

This weekend I was at the mall with my husband and baby boy checking out the sales. I like to go to Macy’s, even though many of their items are too expensive for me, to see what’s new with some of the hottest designers. One designer that I really like is Michael Kors. Some of you may recognize him from Project Runway, where he is a weekly judge.

Anyway, I saw this top that I loved. Great color, great cut. The faux turtleneck with the short sleeve seems to be a hot style this season. The price tag for thMichael Korsis item was $49.50. Now, call me cheap, but I don’t even like to pay that much for jeans. (His jeans run upwards of $100 a pair!) It just doesn’t make sense to pay so much for something that is only in style for a few months. So, I put the item back on the rack and mentally catalogued it as something to look for elsewhere.

As I continued my trek through the mall, I decided to stop at one of my favorite stores – New York and Company. And what did I find? The exact same top! New York and CompanyThe price tag at NY&C was much more doable for me – $22.95. Same color, same cut – less than half the price.  The great thing is – no one will know whether you are wearing the $50 Michael Kors designer top from Macy’s or the $23 top from NY&C. It just goes to show – you can look fashionable for less!

The Body Types series will continue on Monday – have a great weekend!
