Blush Boutique

The following is an interview I did with David Harris of Blush Boutique back in October of 2008. As I’ve mentioned before, I am going to be restructuring NashVogue a bit. The first step in this restructuring is to have a different column each day of the week. On Thursdays, I want to showcase small boutiques and newcomer designers. If you have any boutiques you’d like to know about or a designer friend trying to make it in the business, let me know! I’d love to showcase them here. Enjoy!

Wednesday, October 15, I had the pleasure of sitting down with David Harris. He is one of the owners of Blush Boutique in The Shoppes at Brentwood Hills (click here for a map). Their hours are Monday through Saturday 10am – 7pm and Sunday 1pm – 6pm.

The Interview:

Me: Give me a brief description of your store.

David: Essentially, while providing a boutique style atmosphere, our objective is to provide, you know, really great clothing at a great price without having to sacrifice style or the quality. Times are a bit tough right now for many people, but they still want to make sure that they can treat themselves and we want to be the people who allow them to do that.

Me: What are some of the top labels that you sell?

David: We carry some more exclusive lines that you’ll find, Pasha, Trinity, B. McGee, much of which is certainly not going to be found anywhere else in Nashville. Some more of the more recognizable designers that you’ll find are, you know, BCBG, something that resonates a lot with people. We’ve got Laundry by Shelli Segal. All the way up to your designer dresses like Badgley Mischka. That seems to be very popular as well.

Me: What makes you unique?

David: Once again, I would think that, you know, our niche so to speak is the fact that we’re providing a lot of high end designer stuff. It’s all current season. Its’ all first hand. But at a third of the price.

Me: Who is your favorite designer?

David: My personal favorite designer…the woman wearing the clothes, to be honest, because one designer doesn’t look the same on every girl. So..I don’t have a favorite I guess I’d say.

Me: What can people expect when they come to your store?

David: Hopefully, a comfortable and relaxed environment, intriguing finds and unparalleled customer service.

Me: If you could let people know one thing about your store, what would it be?

David: …We’ve only been open for some odd 10 days at this juncture, so, there’s not a lot of foundation underway at this point. But I think that, moving forward, never really expect to see the same thing. If you came in on a weekly basis you’re more often than not going to find something completely different than your last experience.

The store is great. I love the atmosphere. Everyone I have met there is very nice and friendly. Their selection is great and so are the prices. You should definitely check this store out!

New York Fashion Week Day 7 and 8

Day Seven: February 17, 2009

Day Seven boasted names such as Narciso Rodriguez, Max Azria, and Badgley Mischka. My favorite today (and current runner for favorite so far) is Joanna Mastroianni. I absolutely love the dresses she designed. The full skirts and varying sleeve style make for a gorgeous collection of day and night dresses. Again, we see the gorgeous purple jewel tone that I think will be a staple color in the fall of 2009.

Day Eight: February 18, 2009

The big names of Day Eight include Marchesa, Michael Kors, Vivienne Tam, and Oscar de la Renta. There are many good collections this day, but I think my favorite is Carmen Marc Valvo’s line. His collection of evening wear is spectaular. Ranging from pant/shirt seperates, cocktail dresses, and evening gowns, the collection is full pops of color, shimmering fabrics, and classic sillhouettes.
